Alfred had had a pretty interesting day. After discovering that Francis did indeed run both the makeup department and the clothing department, he had been forced to endure dealing with him all day long. He tried to segway away, but that wasn't very heroic so he ended up staying there all day.
All the American wanted now was a nice cup of coffee and a treat for all his hard work. So he went to the local coffeehouse right down the road from the store. He sighed somewhat in relief as he first entered the small shop and smelled the many brews of tea and coffee and some hot cocoa that seemed to just engulf the entire store. Alfred was content. But he still wandered through the relaxing atmosphere and walked to the counter.
He ordered his usual: a caramel macchiato with whipped cream, but also bought a slice of blueberry cheesecake. The American felt as though he'd earned it after a hard day's work! The sunny blonde watched around as he waited for his order to be ready. It was a cozy little place with couches and reading chairs if you wanted to sit in one of those, but there were also some cute little tables mixed in. A tap to his shoulder reminded him that he'd even placed an order. He beamed and gave the biggest grin when the attendants were really quick at making his cup of coffee. His day was already starting to pick up! Alfred wandered with his food to a table in the far corner by the window. The sun shone just right and it just seemed to make everything alright as he sat and had coffee and cake in peace. If he died right then, he would die happy. He sipped at his coffee happily as he watched over the cafe in curiosity. Some of the most interesting people came to places like this and today was no exception. And then he turned and watched the view outside, enjoying the sunshine.

As much as his job has failed in attaining him many friends, he was enjoying the market. Those that misbehaved didn't seem keen on becoming friends after he'd gotten them in trouble, no, and if he stopped on patrol to speak someone then they'd usually get nervous or he'd be scolded to get back to work. But Ivan managed to keep on his sunny demeanor when going about the many departments, and he had proven himself entirely skillful when it came to keeping people under control. Perhaps it was his unruly height or his uniform (scarf always included, even if it made him look ridiculous), but people did seem to be timid of him; though he pretended not to mind. He also liked his fellow guards, especially when one of them rode around on that silly little vehicle he didn't know the word for.
It was his break now and he was becoming accustomed to all the various buildings that surrounded the market, a fascination with the town itself having lead him to check out all places it had in store. He was particularly fond of the coffee shop he had discovered weeks back, wandering in at various times to indulge himself in a cup of tea. There usually wasn't anyone around for him to sit with, but the tea made up for it with its scent and flavor that helped remind him of home.
And that was just what he had ordered today, claiming himself an empty seat to begin his usual routine of people-watching. Hands wrapped around his warm mug, he peered with violet eyes and the usual calm smile on his face at those who were passing through the shop, listening to the hum of nearby conversations and the general sound of glasses clinking and coffee being brewed. It was always so calming here. Moments passed until his eye had caught someone actually not engaged with company, looking as alone as he was, yet so happy and content to be there by the sunlight. It was hard to see his face, though his golden hair looked awfully familiar.
Ivan got to his feet, carrying his cup of tea along as he approached closer to the man, not even bothering to ask first before he sat himself down in the seat across from him. He leaned forward to get a better look at the man's face, making the table creak in protest against his weight, and immediate recognition of the blond had him eager to spark conversation.
"..Hello! I haff seen you in the security office before~"

Alfred's mind had drifted off into space as he watched the people outside and basked in the happy light that was coming through the window. When he heard a voice, he jolted out of his haze and turned to look at whoever it was that had just sat across from him. Woah hello bright violet eyes that were really close to his face."Woah! Hey dude!" When had this guy sat down across from him? His hero senses must be acting up. He studied the other a little bit, in his own way, noticing how big this guy was. He'd definitely seen him wandering around before, but most people were scared of him. Alfred himself wasn't going to pass judgement, as they hadn't even discussed favorite foods yet!
Al grinned at the other, nontheless. "Yeah? I think I've seen you too! I haven't been working there very long haha, so sorry I don't know everyone yet. I'm Alfred F. Jones! What's your name?" He beamed, holding out his hand for the other to shake. He was fascinated by the fact that he was Russian. It was so interesting how times had changed, what with his grandfather calling Russians communists and Alfred now working with one! He was smiling a little to himself in thought before he could even register what he was doing.
"What drink did you get? I always get a caramel macchiato when I first visit places! If they can't make a good macchiato, then they can't be trusted!" He laughed at his own dumb inside joke with himself, hoping it would get rid of any meeting new people anxiety he might have.

Ivan leaned back again in surprise, taken back by how suddenly loud and verbal the man was being. But he didn't mind, considering that his conversation was accepted and he didn't seem at risk of being abandoned here. He listened to the American ramble, smiling all the while, taking in the man's features and the way he spoke which hinted that he might indeed be American. He was smaller than him, though Ivan was used to that being the case, and rather handsome to look at. Pleased to meet someone of another different nationality, Ivan lifted his hand to grasp Alfred's with good strength and give him a firm shake, eye contact and all. "I am Ivan Braginsky," he offered in return, "I do not know everyone either yet, bot it is nice to be meetink you."
He broke the contact and returned his hands to his cup, glancing down into its warm contents. Confusion broke onto his expression once he heard that unfamiliar term, looking back up to Alfred with a curious blink. "I jost got black tea.. that most be borink comparet to your.. er, macch..iyato." He was just going to assume that that's a very American type of coffee, yes. And before that could worry him too much, he's already distracted by the delightful sound of Alfred's laugh.
Ivan took another long sip of his tea, continuing to watch the blond across the table; now with a more comfortable distance between them, at least. "You most be from Amerika? I haff not been anywhere very far except for here, so I do not know what many foreign places are like."

Alfred nodded at the other man's greeting. He appreciated a strong handshake and when the other gave him one, he was more than pleased to return it. Now that he had a decent look, the other didn't look too bad. He did have somewhat of an oddly shaped nose, though... maybe it was the lighting? "Nice to meet you too!" The other's accent was thick compared to his. Alfred would probably guess Russia, since he wasn't very familiar with the differences in slavic accents.
"I'm not much of a tea person myself. I do like chai sometimes, though. The kind that my brother sometimes makes. He puts milk and sugar in it for me!" He beamed a little at the mention of his brother, before offering his cup. "You can try a sip, if you like! Unless you got mono or something!" He teased.
Alfred was glad they were off to a friendly start already. He hadn't really met any of his coworkers and was glad to know that he was already getting along with one of them. He was hoping they could hang out more after work or something. He could show the other his game system and they could watch movies together or something!
His train of thought derailed when the other asked about his nationality. "Yep! Born in Virginia and raised in Florida!" He laughed a little quieter this time. "I don't travel much either. I've actually never been outside of the United States before! What about you? You're.... Russian.... right?" He guessed. Alfred was always bad at placing accents and he hoped he didn't offend the other.
