♕ FED TO THE RULES AND I HIT THE GROUND RUNNING ♕
Likes:
- Music; even though she is fond of some peace and quiet, she loves listening to music. It is a way of relaxing and clearing her mind. She mainly likes listening to pop and folk.
- Chess; Krístin has played chess every since she was a child. She used to be a member of the local chess club. Nowadays she doesn't play it much anymore, often lacking someone to play against, but she would enjoy playing it once in a while
- Culture and Art; She has always been interested in art and occasionally visits galleries and museums. Krístin especially likes exploring the cultural heritage of her roots, Iceland.
- Literature; Just sitting back with a nice book is one of her favourite ways to spend her time, whether it's reading simple fantasy novels or literary classics. And besides, libraries are very nice and peaceful places.
- Nature; Taking walks in beautiful landscapes is something she misses since she has moved, and she fills the need by going to the park. She especially loves snowy landscapes
- Hot springs; While she thinks snow is beautiful and winter is her favourite season, this is best enjoyed with hot springs.
- Liquorice; Krístin is quite fond of sweets, but she just absolutely loves Liquorice. She honestly thinks it's the best 'food' ever made.
- Birds; She likes most (small) animals, but has a fascination for birds. Puffins are her favourite kind and she actually has a pet puffin called Mr. Puffin
Dislikes:
- Crowds; Krístin really can't stand busy places and doesn't like big cities. Being surrounded by many people and all that hustle and bustle is stifling and it gets on her nerves.
- Noise; this actually goes in hand with not liking crowds and busy places. As she really appreciates silence, she most likely won't seen at parties with loud music and little things like screaming kids often get on her nerves.
- Intimacy; Krístin likes a bit of distance and hates it when people are too touchy and clingy, it makes her feel very uncomfortable.
- Dogs; Dogs are the only type of animals she really really dislikes and would rather stay away from. They are unhygienic, loud and often too energetic. She finds little dogs annoying and big dogs scary.
- Surprises; She hates surprises and especially surprise parties. She just can't appreciate anything unexpected and would like to know things beforehand.
- Being treated like a kid; Because she has a fairly innocent look about her, people often tend to treat her like a little girl. She really cannot appreciate it and thinks of herself as more mature than most of her co-workers.
- Hot weather; Krístin cannot bear the heat and hates sunbathing, causing her to look rather pale.
Quirks:
- Believes in the Mythological; She might not easily admit it, but she honestly thinks creatures of myths, like elves and trolls might exist somewhere. Though she has never seen one herself.
- Talking to birds; It's quite normal for people to talk to pet animals like cats or dogs, but not many people talk to birds like that. Krístin can be seen talking to birds if she has the opportunity and actually talks to her Mr Puffin as if he were human.
- Since she is originally from Iceland, she speaks Icelandic fluently. But since Danish was always taught at school she is rather fluent at that as well and she also has a fair bit of knowledge of Norwegian, though less than Danish. (Incidentally, as the Icelandic language is very similar to Old Norse she can practically manage reading old texts written in Old Norse)
Fears:
- Being abandoned; Even though Krístin isn't the most sociable person, she fears loneliness. She may act like she doesn't care, but she does need a few people to surround her and to talk to instead of her puffin.
- Storms; There's nothing much to say about this. She is really scared of storms and it is the one time she 'allows' herself to act like a little kid by crawling under a blanket.
- (Big dogs; Big dogs freak her out, as she always suspects them of making unexpected moves. She especially doesn't trust dogs that are very energetic and is afraid they might jump and push or bump against her.)
Personality:
Krístin’s personality is perhaps easy to describe in one sentence: she is someone who has a hard time expressing her feelings. She doesn’t know how to deal with them and preferably would just ignore them. This makes her come off as a ‘not-so-social’ person. To others she often appears to be cold and uncaring, which makes them uncertain of how to associate with her.
Krístin really values her independence and doesn't want to rely on others. She can’t stand it when she owes someone a favour. She prefers to be self-sufficient. That is one of the things that help cause her asocial image.
Very few people know that her coldness is just her exterior. Krístin just strongly feels she has to keep face in front of others. In fact, she can be quite a warm person. If you get and take the chance to become better acquainted to her, she can be a good friend. To the few friends she has, Krístin is very loyal.
As she feels the need to keep face, she is also secretly rather competitive. Krístin has this inner complex of wanting to be the best. She might not easily show it, but when she fails or someone is doing a better job, she gets rather frustrated.
She seems to have a fairly ‘calm’ and ‘composed’ personality and likes to have her peace from time to time. Though she is not all composed as she seems to be: Krístin may be quite indifferent about things indeed, but she is easily annoyed as well. Especially loud and obnoxious people get on her nerves easily. However, she is able to refrain from yelling to express her annoyment and mostly just remains irritated in silence. You might see her being frustrated a lot, but you will hardly ever see her being really upset and angry.
Much to her displeasure, she often becomes some kind of tease object to others. Both because she is actually quite the innocent person and because she's so easy to annoy.
In contrast to her habit of bottling up her feelings, Krístin is fairly straightforward in her speech. She simply states her opinion, even if that entails telling someone is an idiot. She doesn't really mind saying it, if she truly believes she is right in her opinion.
As she can often just glare at someone, unintentionally, without saying anything at all, and according to some with a judging look, people often think her to be a strange and perhaps creepy girl.
Despite all this, she can be sweet. This just doesn't happen easily and must be preceded by a certain period of warming up to them, some needing more than others.
♕ DIDN'T MAKE SENSE NOT TO LIVE FOR FUN ♕
Roleplay Sample:Krístin sat at her table eating her breakfast, which consisted of oatmeal. It was always oatmeal, every single day. But heck, it reminded her of home. She looked around the room, thinking she should perhaps tidy up the place after she got home from work. That is, if wasn't too tired. Her apartment was rather small, consisting of only three rooms: a small bathroom, a kitchen only big enough to cook in, and one reasonable sized room, functioning as both bedroom and living room. That was all she needed, really. It was big enough for herself alone and it wasn't as if she could afford a bigger place anyway. But it was her place, and that was enough.
Krístin finished her oatmeal and got ready to leave for her job at Heta-Market. She had been working there for almost 5 weeks now. It wasn't the most ideal job, but she really needed the money to pay for university. She grabbed her things together and glanced at the clock. Shoot, I should really leave now or I'll miss my bus. Before taking off however, she walked towards the window, at which Mr Puffin sat. She gave him some food and a small pat. “Goodbye. I’ll be home at 5. Behave yourself, okay?”
She then turned around, and, as her apartment was on the 3rd floor, walked down the several stairs. Answering her neighbour’s “Good morning dear” with a short “Hello”, she left the building, making her way towards the bus stop. She was lucky, as the bus that stopped in her street was almost always half empty. If there was one thing she disliked, it was a bus full with loud and sweaty people.
After about 10 minutes Krístin got off again. She then needed to walk only another block to reach the store. She sighed as she entered the building. She made her way to her floor. She had to work at the multimedia department today, which was her favourite one of the two. People did not need to ask that many questions there, except for where stuff was. She sighed once more as she got to her work.

(oh and, if you don't agree with the pet puffin, I'll ditch Mr Puffin. You know, since in reality it's actually illegal and not normal to have such a bird as pet. I wasn't sure if you mind those things.)
