Personality:
Alfred has an overall cheerful demeanor. He's always smiling and has a tendency to brighten the room whenever he walks in. He's often thought of as the sunshine in a room and is very good at making people smile, for the most part. In fact, he goes out of his way to make people smile. It's part of his hero complex. Alfred does not like to see people upset. He will make sure everyone is having a good day. He may do nigh anything to make this happen. If he's not able to cheer up someone, even doing his best to do so, he feels like he's failed as a hero and will be sad for the next few hours while he sulks.
As mentioned before, Alfred does have a very large hero complex. He reads alot of comic books and watched alot of cartoons growing up. He's determined to be the hero at the end of the day and save as many people as possible. He will go out of his way to be the hero in any situation because he thinks it's his duty as a human being to do so.
Alfred can be considered very annoying at times. He does not like it when it's silent in a room, as he sees it as awkward. So he'll talk about whatever suits him. Yes, anything. If he really feels like it, he will tell you that his boxers are american flag print or that he suspects that all of the upper management are actually lizards that are planning to take over the entire universe. Of course, these are all normal topics of conversation.
He actually also has a really bad tendency of talking when he's nervous or scared. This is one reason he does not do well working or being out at night is because he is terrified of the dark. He is incredibly superstitious and believes that ghosts live in dark quiet rooms and will kill him at any given moment. Alfred has no evidence to support his theory, just that this is what he believes. This is probably due to watching far too many horror movies. Note: he also firmly believes the dumb blonde will die first.
He can be serious sometimes. During these times, it is scary how efficient he is at doing whatever it is. He focuses all of his energy and attention towards that task and doesn't do anything else. During these times as well, he is incredibly attentive to other people's needs and insecurities and does his best to cater to them.
Another thing to note: Alfred does not have these moments often, as he has ADHD. He has a very hard time focusing and keeping calm in any given situation. He also has a very hard time learning because of this. He learns best when lessons are fast-paced and interesting. He dislikes reading anything that is not a comic book and does not learn much from reading lesson books. Not to say he is illiterate, he just does not learn from reading.
Alfred has a really bad body image of himself. He goes to the gym often to try to lose weight, but has a very hard time. He eats alot of junk food and drinks alot of soda. He's not fat, but he is slightly chubby and soft around the midsection.
Alfred is extremely sentimental. He wears an old WW2 bomber jacket in memorial and keeps most anything that people gives him. Especially things he was given when he was younger.
Alfred never gave up his habit of reading comic books and he still loves them, as well as watching movies. He very much hates movies where the bad guy wins and he hates movies that he feels are incorrect. In all honesty, his favorites are old cheesy movies, though he has a thing for watching horror movies as well.
Alfred also really loves American history. It is the one thing he will try to force himself to read alot of and learn more about.
Alfred alot of times comes off as a shallow air-head. He does not bother to read the atmosphere around him most of the time, so he has a tendency to come off as insensitive or dumb. He is neither of these things, but that is the way he comes across to others.
His best way of dealing with sadness or tragedy in his life is by smiling through it and acting like it didn't happen. If you were to ask him why, his response would be that heroes don't get upset over things like that. He likes to tough it out.
Also note that when Alfred gets angry, he gets really really angry. He will hold whatever smile he's got plastered to his face if there are others around. However, he will argue with the person and go so far as to insult them on very personal levels.
On these same two notes, it takes alot to make Alfred mad and also alot to make Alfred cry. Otherwise, he will tough it out. If it is something as small as a disagreement, he will just very loudly voice his own opinion. Even if it's while the other person is talking. And even if his own opinion is dumb and has no merit.
He also likes to tease other people about things if they poke fun at him. If someone makes a joke about his weight, he will make a joke about something in their appearance. However, if they push it and start attacking him, that could potentially make him angry.
Alfred is also very OCD about his workspace. He likes everything to be precisely where he left it. This is usually in a huge mess with pictures of Captain America and a Darth Vader bobblehead floating around somewhere. All of these things are neatly tucked under a cup of coffee in the mornings or a soda bottle/milkshake in the evenings. He is a vey hard worker during the day and, though he is a goofball, is a great employee.
Alfred is lazy at home, though. His room is worse than his desk, with clothing and various games, movies, and comic books thrown everywhere. He is really a slob when it comes to his living space and I would feel sorry for the poor sap that has to share a living space with him.
All in all, Alfred is a loving goofball. He just takes some time to get used to. He comes off as weird and loud and annoying, but he's just a very loving person with alot of cheer that he wants to spread to the world.
♕ DIDN'T MAKE SENSE NOT TO LIVE FOR FUN ♕
Roleplay Sample:Alfred was on his way to the DMV. He'd just turned 18 and he was going to take the driving test for the first time. This was gonna be great. He walked in, took a number, and waited in the lobby. However, upon sitting down, he realized he wasn't that fond of waiting. And he'd forgotten to bring a comic book with him. Dammit.
He began tapping his foot. At first just back and forth, but then he began tapping both feet. Wow his shoes sure made an interesting sound against this flooring. And with that, he began also tapping at his knees to make a beat out of it. He was probably disturbing the other people in here who were reading the signs for the vision test, but he didn't care. He was making himself happy and hopefully relieving a little of their stress as well.
Finally, his number was called. He bounced up to the counter, marching back to the desk to take the signs test as though he were the most important person in the world. Truth be told, he was the most lively in the room. He didn't mind. This dull place needed some liveliness anyway.
As he wandered out to the car, a slightly unsettling feeling of nervousness settled into his gut. He began to talk really fast, narrating his way of unlocking the car. The American very loudly told the passenger to buckle up, but never checked to see if she actually did or not.
He stuck the car in reverse and all but floored it out of the parking lot.
Three stoplights later and a failed 3-point-turn, he sat proudly in his chair waiting for them to take his picture for his license photo. He was handed a slip of paper that he was sure was going to just be information and stats of his fabulous driving skills.
As he read it, however, it seemed to be a slip that stated that the hero had indeed failed the driving test miserably. He frowned as he walked out with the paper and the DMV handbook to his brother's car.
He sadly got into the passenger seat, reading over the handbook. "Dumb communists wouldn't give me a license." was all he said while staring at the dashboard. "Maybe I should get a motorcycle license." He grinned with renewed interest of still being able to be mobile.
