It was early in the morning on the one day that Stefan didn’t have any classes (with the exception of the weekend), and of course they had to give Stefan a long shift. He had to be at the bakery of the store freakishly early to get everything ready for the customers. Usually Stefan didn’t mind the work at the bakery, though he may or may not have stayed up until 2 am last night, gaming with the rest of his guild. And when your guild needed you for a raid, you were there for them.
After hours of serving shopping people with a smile, a polite ‘hello’, ‘thank you’, and ‘see you again’, Stefan finally had half an hour to enjoy some food of his own. God, he was tired, and he wasn’t even halfway through his shift. Once in the staff lounge, he got himself some much needed coffee, and opened the fridge, pleased to see that the sandwiches he had placed in there that morning were still there. Stefan was still fairly new to the store and there had been the occasional instance that someone else had nicked his food, so from then on he always wrote his name on whatever he placed in the fridge, making sure everyone knew to stay away from it. He didn’t feel like going to the Deli Market again to get something to eat. As an employee he got a discount there, but he preferred making his food himself whenever he could. Tasted better that way.
Stefan seated himself at one of the tables and released a sigh. He knew he should probably head to bed early tonight. Though he wasn’t sure whether that would actually happen. The chance was large that Stefan would be too distracted by one thing or the other to go to sleep early. But tomorrow was a Saturday anyway, and he didn’t have to work, so he’d get a chance to sleep in.
After another yawn, Stefan took a sip of his coffee. He leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes against the lights that felt just a little too bright to his eyes, and started on a sandwich.
